On arriving our road service technicians inspected the truck.

They got under the truck to check the clutch. They found out that the clutch has metal pieces of bearings and spring coming out. 

We scheduled a tow to our truck shop. 

Truck arrived at our truck shop at around 11am. 

We dropped the transmission and found a leaking rear main seal on this Cummins Big Cam 3 and some leaking fuel lines.  We replaced the rear main seal, cut flywheel, fuel lines, and repaired a few air leaks.  Jorge test drive every single truck that goes thru our shop. 

After test drive we adjusted the clutch and it was ready to get back to work.  Truck was ready the following day. 

Following is the procedure we follow at our truck shop for clutch replacement -

We check u-joints, carrier bearings, transmission rear seal, transmission input shaft, bell housing gasket, rear main seal, motor mounts, exhaust, fuel lines condition, and more.  We make a list for customer and get an approval on all additional repairs.

Every flywheel is resurfaced so the new clutch can have a new surface to stop on.  Every flywheel is measured to ensure proper thickness. 

We average from 2 to 3 clutch replacements a week.  Our mechanics change about 100 clutches yearly.  

Clutch replacement can cost you between $1550 to $2,500. Depending on what parts are needed. We keep a work bay free for a quick clutch adjustment or brake adjustment that can be completed in less than an hour. Stop by for a clutch adjustment so you can get the most life from clutch.
