Clutch Replacement In A Volvo Truck!

Clutch Replacement In A Volvo Truck

Clutch Replacement In A Volvo Truck! We do an average 2 to 3 clutch jobs every week on all Diesel Engines. We also have clutch adjustment, you can be In and out in less than an hour. Most clutch replacements take from 8 to 10 hours from start to finish. Every time we replace the clutch we have a checklist. 1. Block tires and release the air system. 2. Check transmission dust cover boot for tears before removing the top tower. 3. Inspect air hoses that go from behind transmission to air shifter. 4. Check u-joints, carrier bearings, and yokes before we disassemble for play or wear down. 5. Once the clutch is removed, we inspect the flywheel, can it get cut again? About 80% of the time, flywheels can get resurfaced again. Check teeth where the starter sits to make sure it's not worn down. If a new flywheel is needed we will quote the original and aftermarket. 6. Once the flywheel is removed, we inspect the rear main seal, engine mounts, fuel hoses, hydraulic hoses, check the gasket between block and bell housing. 7. If bell housing needs to be removed, we check and mark starter wiring, check to see if the oil pan will need replacement due to sitting on the bell housing. On CAT, Cummins, and Detroit mostly have bell housing sit on an oil pan so we quote a complete oil change package with a new oil pan gasket. 8. Input Shaft is inspected, we check for wear and tear. If needed we replace the input shaft, bearing, and snap ring. We also check the transmission for any oil leaks. 9. Clutch linkage inspected for wear.
