Transmission refers to the whole drivetrain, including clutch, gearbox, prop shaft (for rear-wheel drive vehicles), differential, and final drive shafts.

The most common application is in automobiles, where the transmission adjusts the internal combustion engine's output to the driving wheels. Such engines must run at a high rotational speed, which is inconvenient for starting, stopping, and slower travel. The transmission shifts the greater engine speed to the slower wheel speed, which increases torque.

On the 2003 International, a gearbox leaks from behind. Because the customer did not want to rebuild the gearbox, we removed it and replaced it with a remanufactured gearbox. We also replaced the oil filter and installed a new O-ring to the power steering canister.

This truck came in for a state inspection at our truck repair shop. We were able to get this unit in and out in a few hours because the dealer had a gearbox in stock.
